Wednesday, September 25 - Cancel Congressional Recess / Canvass for Marie Newman

Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: Tell Congress to Cancel Recess to Launch Impeachment

The Mueller report confirmed what we already knew: Trump abused his authority, violated the law, and tried repeatedly to obstruct justice. Trump has now been accused by a whistleblower of asking Ukrainian leaders to interfere with our election system by digging up dirt on his political opponents, and then Trump himself admitted—ON CAMERA—that the call took place. Donald Trump is a criminal. These activities are impeachable offenses.

Finally, it looks like House Democrats are ready to act. Nancy Pelosi has just announced a formal impeachment inquiry of Trump, but that doesn’t mean our work stops here. The House is about to go on recess.

A majority of House Democrats now support impeachment (you can check to see if your Member of Congress is on the right side of history here), but there are still Illinois Democrats (Cheri Bustos and Dan Lipinski) who would prefer to run out the clock.

We need our reps to cancel Congressional recess to launch impeachment proceedings now. This cannot wait.

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [zip code] and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling on [REP] to cancel the upcoming Congressional recess so that the House can immediately launch impeachment proceedings. The President has clearly committed high crimes and misdemeanors. If Congress does nothing, then our constitution means nothing. Our democracy will mean nothing. Please act now.
