Action 1: Tell Your Rep to Support H.R. 40
We will never achieve racial justice in America if this country does not examine the impact and legacy of slavery – and make strides toward achieving reparatory justice.
No amount of material resources or monetary compensation can ever be sufficient restitution for the spiritual, mental, cultural, and physical damage inflicted on African Americans ripped from their families and nations to labor for the enrichment of the United States. After the "abolition" of slavery, those emancipated suffered violent repression, oppression, exploitation, and deprivation under Jim Crow laws and Black codes in the South, as well as de facto segregation in every region of this nation.
Now, we have the power to make reparations for slavery real with H.R. 40, a bill that would set up a commission to examine the institution of slavery and its impact and make recommendations for reparations to Congress.
We need to make our voices loud and clear so that Congress knows where we stand. Tell your representative to support H.R. 40 so this country can begin paying its debt for slavery.
Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [zip code] and a member of Indivisible. I'm calling Rep. [NAME] to support H.R. 40, which would establish a commission to examine the institution of slavery and its impact and make recommendations for reparations to Congress. Reparations are not a symbolic act -- they are a real and necessary demand for justice that's gaining support among your fellow members of Congress, presidential candidates, and even power centers like J.P. Morgan, the Episcopal Church, and the city of Charleston, SC. Reparations are about respect, reconciliation, and propelling us toward a more just future. Thank you.

Action 2: ICE and CBP Abuse Tracker
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) atrocities grow by the day. United We Dream has just unveiled an ICE and CBP Tracker to ensure that all of the horrible things they have done are tracked, catalogued and documented so that their victims are never forgotten and so that we build a foundation for accountability and justice.
As you scroll down through the seemingly endless abuses, you will see some disturbing stuff which may be hard to read. But it is important that we recognize the reality of the suffering that our tax dollars pay for and why we must stop funding this abuse.
Congress is debating whether they will again give Trump more money for the Deportation Force and we need more people to tell them NO and to know the reasons why.
On the tracker page you’ll find resources to fight back and even a sticker that you can order to let the people around you know that you will resist deportations.
If you have more information on ICE & CBP abuse, please report it to the MigraWatch Hotline at 1-844-363-1423.
