Wednesday, June 12 - Stop Robocalls / Aldermanic Panel / Indivisible Chapter Meeting

Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: Call for a Strong Anti-Robocalling Bill

The Senate recently passed an important bill that would help end ‘spoofed’ robocalls – phony calls that mimic your bank, the IRS, or even your own number.

And the FCC last week made it clear that phone companies can proactively block spam robocalls, rather than get your permission first.

But the fight isn’t over! The House must pass its anti-robocall bill soon, and we want to make sure that you aren’t paying for anti-robocall technology – that the phone companies cover the cost!

Tell your House member that you want the strongest possible robocall protections – and that they should be FREE to consumers! Details could be finalized in the next few weeks, so it’s important you weigh in now!

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [zip code] and a member of Indivisible. I’m urging you to pass the strongest possible legislation to end robocalls, and to make sure that any anti-robocall technology is offered FREE to consumers. I don’t want robocalls, and I shouldn’t have to pay to not get them!

The Senate already passed the TRACED Act (SB. 151). And the FCC recently cleared the way for phone companies to block unwanted robocalls for customers. It’s important the House bill is as strong as possible. Thank you for ensuring that both landlines and mobile phones are free of robocalls.
