Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: Demand Your Rep Support Impeachment

Democratic leadership continues its no-impeachment strategy. An emboldened Trump administration is now openly mocking Democrats in return. It is up to us to change their minds.

The Mueller report confirms what we've already learned:

  • Russia launched a huge attack on our election to elect Trump

  • US law enforcement investigated that attack

  • Trump corruptly tried to derail that investigation & tried to cover up that effort

Trump abused his authority, violated the law, and tried repeatedly to obstruct justice. These are impeachable offenses. The Muller report shows that our democracy was attacked and is still vulnerable. Burying the report also buries our chance at preventing continuing attacks through to the 2020 election.

It's up to Congress to do its job and protect our democracy. Trump’s White House is blocking ALL oversight. With control of the House, Democrats should use their investigatory power to begin investigations in order to free the flow of information. Rep. Rashida Tlaib's resolution is a good step forward.

Call your Representative and tell them to co-sponsor Rep. Rashida Tlaib's resolution (H.Res. 257) and begin investigating whether Trump should be impeached.

Action 2: Save the Date (June 10) for ICIRR Immigrant and Refugee Rights Benefit

The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) is a statewide coalition of over 100 organizations dedicated to promoting the rights of immigrants and refugees to full and equal participation in the civic, cultural, social, and political life of our diverse society.

The coalition is coming together to raise funds to protect rights for Illinois citizens, specifically for those that have come here from other countries.

Whether you’ve been organizing for months, or you’re just getting started (or even if this is the first email you’ve ever gotten from us), we want to hear from you.

We’ve put together a quick survey that will ask you about a couple of the issues we’re thinking about the most heading into this summer. And it’ll also give you a chance to flag anything we may have missed. Please: click here to let us know what matters most to you!

There’s so much going on in the news, from 2020 candidates to state issues, that it can be tough to keep up with it all! So we want to learn where everyone reading this email stands. And we really mean everyone.
