Learn about important legislation and the work of Indivisible IL9. Get to know other progressives in the 9th District. Talk about ways you can get involved and be active! Invite your friends and neighbors. Refreshments and snacks will be provided!
Action 2: #NoCopAcademy Rally at City Council on 3/13
The #NoCopAcademy campaign is an effort supported by community organizations across Chicago that want to see $95 million invested in our communities rather than police training grounds.
This Wednesday, City Council will take the final votes to finalize approval and allow for construction to begin on the academy. In the last 18 months, the #NoCopAcademy movement has done so much, from stickers to sit-ins to mayoral endorsements. Still, City Council ignores the popular, city-wide demand for #NoCopAcademy. So let's make sure they can't ignore us and show up loud and clear on Wednesday.
When: Wednesday, March 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Chicago City Hall Council Chambers 2nd Floor

Action 3: Support the Global HER Act
Last year, the Trump administration reinstated and expanded the dangerous Global Gag Rule. This draconian restriction forces non-U.S. health centers to choose between keeping their essential U.S. funding to function and withholding information about abortion care OR being denied this funding because they won’t hide information from patients.
This policy is cutting off entire communities from healthcare and women and girls are dying because of it. The Global HER (Health, Empowerment, and Rights) Act is an opportunity for us to rescind this awful rule and save lives. By passing this bill in Congress, presidents would no longer be able to use executive orders to restrict funding for healthcare of millions of women, and restore U.S. funding to some of the most vulnerable populations in the world.
If your rep is a cosponsor: I’m a constituent calling from [zip code] and member of Indivisible. I’m calling to thank [REP] for supporting H.R.1055, the Global Health, Empowerment, and Rights Act. Thank you for standing up for women’s healthcare, and please keep working to pass this bill!
If your rep is not a cosponsor: I’m a constituent calling from [zip code] and member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [REP] to consponsor H.R.1055, the Global Health, Empowerment, and Rights Act. We need to protect women’s healthcare around the globe from political executive orders. I urge [REP] to stand up for women’s rights and support this bill. Thank you.
