Action 1: Phone Bank for a Fair Impeachment Trial in Senate
The Mueller report confirmed what we already knew: Trump abused his authority, violated the law, and tried repeatedly to obstruct justice. Now, Trump has been accused by multiple whistleblowers of asking leaders of foreign governments to interfere with our election system by digging up dirt on his political opponents. Donald Trump is a criminal. These activities are impeachable offenses. And he himself has admitted to them, openly, on camera.
Nancy Pelosi has announced that a formal impeachment inquiry is underway, but our work is far from over to ensure Trump is held accountable for his numerous crimes. It's absolutely essential that the Senate holds an open and transparent impeachment trial that allows for the full array of evidence to be presented and considered -- but Mitch McConnell is the one who gets to set the rules for the trial -- and frankly, we don't trust him to do it fairly. That's why we've got to demand that Senators publicly support a fair and open impeachment trial. Use this form to sign up for a shift making calls to voters in key areas to connect them directly to their Senators to make this important ask.
You can volunteer from anywhere, and we'll follow up and make sure you have everything you need to contact voters once you sign up. In order to volunteer, folks will need access to a computer or tablet to log in to our remote phone-banking system as well as a phone to actually make the calls. RSVP for one or multiple shifts -- any amount of time you can commit to calling makes a real difference in this critical fight to protect our democracy.

Action 2: Call on Sinai Health System to Support Unions
Certified nursing assistants, dietary aids, transport workers, housekeepers, and RNs. These are the people who take care of you and your family in the hospital when you are most in need. Nearly 30,000 of these workers in Illinois (55% of them) make under $15 an hour. 22,000 of those make under $13 an hour. 76% of all Illinois hospital service workers are women, and 50% are people of color. While these workers dedicate themselves to their patience for very little pay, the President/CEO of the Illinois Health and Hospital Association makes $390 an hour.
Sinai Health System workers are currently fighting to lift themselves out of poverty and the right to form a union. Call on CEO Karen Teitelbaum to support unionization.
Call Sinai Health System CEO Karen Teitelbaum at 773-257-5364.
Script: Sinai workers and patients deserve fair wages and safe staffing. Do the right thing and lift standards and recognize the union for all workers now!

Action 3: Support LGBTQ Businesses
On September 18, Mayor Lori Lightfoot introduced a resolution that "Calls for Chief Purchasing Officer and Department of Procurement Services to make business development resources available to LGBT business enterprises."
In essence, the resolution calls for the City to provide resources/training to LGBT business owners, and to track data on engagement (RFPs, spending, etc) with LGBT business owners. Businesses must have the LGBT Business Enterprise certification to be eligible for contract opportunities as an underrepresented business enterprise. It is possible that this proposition may not pass because of little interest from the City Council.
