Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: October 19 Day of Action for Jon Hoadley in Michigan

On Saturday, October 19, we have an early opportunity to make an impact in Michigan, a key 2020 battleground. A Day of Action has been organized to canvass for Jon Hoadley, who is challenging a 17-term Republican incumbent in Michigan’s 6th Congressional District. Jon recently laid out his progressive platform and impressive campaign strategy at a recent Indivisible Lincoln Square-sponsored meeting and asked for Indivisible Chicago’s help.

On October 19, canvassers will be flooding the 6th District, circulating petitions for Jon but also working already to increase Democratic turnout in November 2020 by signing voters up for the permanent absentee ballot list made possible under Michigan’s newly liberalized voter access law. Join us to help ensure a blue 2020!

Action 2: Home is Here Rally in Washington on 11/12

Join us November 12 on the Steps of the Supreme Court!

With the fate of DACA now in the hands of the Supreme Court, hundreds of thousands of people could lose their homes, their livelihoods, and their families. It’s time to put an end to this fear and uncertainty and show the Supreme Court that DACA recipients and immigrant families aren't going anywhere — because their home is here.

Join us on the steps of the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. on November 12 and demand the Court protect DACA recipients and all immigrants. Help us keep families together.

Segment 1: The current president would like to defy the laws of nature, but some laws just won’t bend. Take the laws of linguistics for instance. This week, a look at what the president meant when he asked for “a favor, though.

Segment 2: With impeachment proceedings underway, Illinois 9 Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky joins the podcast to talk about where things stand and what lies ahead. Also, as we follow the impeachment, it’s important that we don’t lose track of some key legislative priorities. The Congresswoman runs down the list.
