Action 2: Tell Your New 2019 Congress - No Money for Trump’s Wall

Today is the first day of the new Blue Wave Congress, but unfortunately we need to focus on ending the Trump Shutdown before we can address a progressive agenda. Remember: this shutdown is caused entirely by Trump’s childish demands for his border wall. At the end of last month, the Senate had already passed a clean funding bill that would fund the government until Feb. 8, thereby averting a shutdown. That bill would pass the House, if Trump would allow it to move forward.

Now that new members have been seated in Congress, please call all your reps -- old and new -- and thank them for standing up to Trump’s racist, harmful demands. Tell them that you have their back and to stand strong against any border wall funding.

Senator Duckworth | DC: 202-224-2854 | Chicago 312-886-3506
Senator Durbin | DC: 202-224-2152 | Chicago 312-353-4952

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [zip code] and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [MoC] to keep standing strong against Trump’s racist and xenophobic wall. I want the government to reopen, but don’t want my tax dollars going to expand Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda. Thank you.

Action 3: Listen to the Indivisible Chicago Podcast - 2018 Recap

Every Sunday, Indivisible Chicago members Tom Moss releases a new episode of the Indivisible Chicago Podcast (ICP). It’s a great way to keep up with the latest news about the Indivisible movement on a local level and to stay plugged in to upcoming efforts around the city.

With so much uncertainty in the world — a government shutdown, a burgeoning autocracy, kleptocracy, and idiocracy — there’s some comfort in the fact that time at least still ticks away at predictable intervals. This week, a look back at the year that was with a roundtable of Indivisible Chicago leaders: Executive Director Darcey Regan, Indivisible Lincoln Square leader Jessica Droeger, and founder Jason Rieger.
