Action 3: Pledge to rally at Federal Plaza if Trump fires Rosenstein or impedes the Mueller investigation -- rally possible this THURSDAY

Action 1: Get Your Friends Ready to Vote

Today is National Voter Registration Day, and we’re fast approaching the most important election of our lifetimes.

Republicans have made it explicitly clear that if they win there will be:

Democrats must win one or both chambers to stop that agenda and to instill oversight. Democracy is literally on the line.

But Republicans in charge of voting aggressively work to insure fewer people can vote - specifically minorities. And this anti-democratic tactic works. Kris Kobach’s primary win looks to be because of his own voter suppression. Kobach is the architect of Crosscheck, and head of the Trump administration voter suppression commission. Here in Illinois, Governor Rauner vetoed the bill that would have ended our participation in it.

All of that means that we have to beat Trump enabling Republicans at the polls by more than 6% in order to get accountability. Every vote counts - even in “blue” states like ours. That makes voter registration the key first step in holding Trump accountable. Everyone needs to:

  1. Check that they we are (still) registered - it takes 30 seconds online

  2. Get ourselves registered - online, by mail, or in person

  3. Get our friends registered - through the Amplify App, or online

Visit our new Midterm Registration page to see all the important dates and information you need to get each of these important three tasks done.

Action 2: Request a Vote By Mail Ballot

In honor of National Voter Registration Day, we hope that all Indivisible Chicago members are already registered to vote (check your registration status here) and are busy registering their friends.

If you’re like us, you may be planning to spend Election Day knocking on doors, making phone calls, and driving voters to the polls. Why not make it easier for yourself by voting by mail before Election Day? It’s free, it’s easy, and it’s one more thing to cross off your to do list in just a few minutes.

Request a vote by mail ballot before November 1 -- you must already be registered to vote

Action 3: Pledge to Rally if Trump fires Rosenstein (Possibly This Thursday!)

After yesterday’s roller coaster of drama surrounding Rod Rosenstein, it is looking likely that Trump could fire Rosenstein as early as THIS THURSDAY. This puts the integrity of Mueller’s special council is again in serious jeopardy.

If Trump fires Rosenstein on Thursday, Indivisible Chicago WILL rally downtown that night at 5 p.m. If Rosenstein resigns, we will not rally.

Here's what we need you to do to help resist in the event that Trump sets off a constitutional crisis. We have over 5000 people signed up to join us at Federal Plaza if necessary.

If you haven't registered yet for the protest, please do so here.

It helps us know how many people to expect. If you haven't given us your cell number so we can text you if something happens, you can update your info here.

And finally, tell a friend. Have them register for the protest. On the day it happens and we get the news that Rosenstein has been fired, commit to texting 5 friends and telling them to get to Federal Plaza.

This is a big endeavor, and we are working to get a sound system to accommodate thousands of people. If you can chip in a little bit of money to help pay for it, it would be a big help.

The world will be watching our response to this event. We all hope Rosenstein isn't fired, but if he is we have to be prepared. Will we stand up to authoritarianism? Or will be roll over? I think I know the answer, and I think you do too. See you at Federal Plaza.
