Tuesday, September 18 - #SaveSCOTUS Phone Bank / Tell a Friend About Blue Wave Rave / Advocate for Fair Elections

Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: LINK UPDATED - #SaveSCOTUS Phone Bank

Yesterday’s phone bank link was out of date. Please reference this link.

In addition to the numerous lies Brett Kavanaugh has told the Senate during his confirmation hearings, and his reference to birth control as “abortion-inducing drugs,” a California professor has accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault.

This disturbing allegation alone is enough to disqualify Kavanaugh from serving on any court, let alone the highest court in the country for a lifetime appointment. Senators Duckworth and Durbin have each have each been publicly critical of this uniquely controversial candidate and the way his nomination to Supreme Court was made and has rushed through to the. But several senators have not made a public decision and can still be swayed.

We must redouble our efforts to reach out to those senators constituents to stop Brett Kavanaugh and #SaveSCOTUS.Start phonebanking from home today by calling our friends in Indiana. You must create an account with Open VPB to participate.

If Trump is successful at getting Kavanaugh confirmed, the Court will work to preserve the Trump agenda for decades to come. Key issues that affect us all hang in the balance, including reproductive rights, access to health care, LGBTQ rights, environmental protections, and much more. Start phonebanking today.

Action 2: Tell a Friend About the Blue Wave Rave on 10/3

Do you have a friend who wants to help get out the vote in November, but doesn’t know where to start? Does this friend also love comedy (who doesn’t?)?

Bring a friend (or two!) to the Blue Wave Rave, and enjoy an evening of laughter, drinks, and community as we work together to turn Congress blue! Indivisible Chicago is teaming up with ensemble members of The Second City, iO, and Annoyance Theater to rally 1,000 volunteers to help Get Out The Vote for progressive candidates in Illinois and Indiana—and we need your help.

Please join us at Lakeview’s Athenaeum Theatre to find out how you can get involved, meet your fellow activists, and enjoy a one-night-only improv performance aimed at getting us ready to turn out the vote.

There is no blue wave without the work and, together, we can make sure Illinois does its part to flip the House—and maybe take the Senate, too.

When: Wednesday, October 3 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: The Athenaeum Theatre (2936 N Southport Ave.)

Please consider a donation of $15 or more to help cover postcard stamps, transportation and other GOTV costs. Cash bar will be open throughout the evening.

Action 3: Advocate for Fair Elections

November 6 is coming up soon, the margins are razor thin in many districts, and we must all advocate for our elections to be administered fairly. Thankfully, the Americans of Conscience Checklist (AoC) has made it easy by creating a letter that we can send to our local elections officials.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Take this email template and customize it to make it your own

  2. Email your letter to Cook County Clerk David Orr voter.reg@cookcountyil.gov

  3. Not in Cook County? Find your election office here
