Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: Canvass in Hammond on 8/17-8/22

Join Indiana Democrats to knock doors to help elect Democrats up and down the ticket!  The stakes of this election are high. The margin of victory is razor thin. Winning in November starts with you calling voters and knocking on doors. That work must start now.

Over the next few days, groups will be leaving to canvass from a new office at 5217 Hohman Ave. in Hammond, IN – only 30 minutes from Downtown Chicago. No experience needed! Sign up to canvass here.

  • Sunday, August 19 at 12 noon and 3 p.m.

Action 3: Safe Spaces in Schools Immigration Webinar 8/28

Each month, National Immigration Law Center’s Winning in the States Initiative will be delving into priority state-level policy challenges and strategies with leaders in the field. They plan to share best practices from practitioners and have robust discussions on how policy challenges are being tackled in real time.

The first webinar, Implementing and Defending Safe Spaces in Schools, will take place on Tuesday, August 28 at 6 p.m.

Children deserve to feel safe in school. Trump's desire to detain and deport innocent families has led to a reduction of safety in public spaces. Keeping ICE from accessing the schools' and individual students' records is about protecting all of our rights.

This webinar will include leaders in the movement for safe spaces in schools, including advocates from two states that have passed safe school resolutions. RSVP now.
