Action 1: TOMORROW - Children Demand Safe Zones Rally
Governor Rauner only has until August 28 to say whether he will veto or sign the bill. We have heard rumors that he won't, and we want to make sure he is listening to us. If Governor Rauner cares about the safety of our communities, he must sign the Safe Zones Act (SB 35), NOW!
Tomorrow, children from the Campaign for a Welcoming Illinois will rally to demand that Governor Rauner sign the SB35 and all the other pro-immigration bills sitting on his desk. Safe Zones will make schools, hospitals and courthouses safer for all communities in Illinois. Children will also drop off hundreds of postcards signed by IL residents.
When: Tuesday, August 14 from 11 a.m. to noon
Where: James R. Thompson Center (100 W Randolph St.)

Action 2: TOMORROW - Postcard Posse League Night
You've heard of a bowling league, right? Well, how about a postcard league? Indivisible Chicago’s Postcard Posse is now forming teams to help write postcards to voters ahead of the midterms. Write to win prizes and, more importantly, help elect people who share your values! We will count up postcards for each team and keep the standings.
We will be writing postcards to voters who share our values and voted in 2016, but did not vote in 2014. We are going to turn them out for the midterms! We will be writing postcards to Sean Casten's district (IL-6) and Lauren Underwood's (IL-14) to start, and we will expand to other districts as interest dictates.
It does not cost anything to enter--just your time, effort, and hand cramps. Postcards will be provided, and we will cover the postage for postcards filled out during league events.
Get more information and sign up for Postcard Posse updates, and plan to attend an upcoming league night:
Tuesday, August 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at Bar Louie (47 W Polk St); sign up here
Tuesday, August 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gideon Welles (4500 N Lincoln); sign up here
If you don't want to write postcards, but still want to help, you can donate to help cover the cost of postage. 100 postcards will require $35 in postage.
Action 3: Listen to the Indivisible Chicago Podcast with Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin
Every Sunday, Indivisible Chicago members Tom Moss releases a new episode of the Indivisible Chicago Podcast. It’s a great way to keep up with the latest news about the Indivisible movement on a local level and to stay plugged in to upcoming efforts around the city.
This week, Tom talks with Indivisible co-founders Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg, and they cover a lot of ground including the origin of Indivisible, thoughts about how the primaries are playing out, and the veracity of the “democrats in disarray” media narrative. Spoiler: There is not as much disarray as some would like to believe.
