Monday, June 4 - Marshals Needed for #FamiliesBelongTogether Rally / Modernize Voting Equipment / Indivisible Chicago Podcast

Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: URGENT - Marshals Needed for #FamilesBelongTogether Rally TOMORROW

Tomorrow, we will raise our voices against they key actors who are carrying out Trump’s family separation order: ICE and U.S. Attorneys. ICE apprehends and separates families while US Attorneys enforce the separation in legal proceedings. We need to stand up against this incompetence and the moral abomination of family separation.

We are seeking volunteer marshals to help us ensure a safe and orderly event. No prior experience is necessary.

Indivisible Chicago is excited to be partnering with the National Domestic Workers Alliance, MomsRising, United We Dream, MoveOn and many others to hold family-friendly rallies across the country. Can you join us as a volunteer marshal before, during or after the rally?

When: Tuesday, June 5, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Federal Plaza (219 S Dearborn St.)

Action 2: Call on Rauner to Modernize Illinois Voting Equipment

The majority of Illinois' voting equipment was purchased more than a decade ago, which makes the need for new equipment more pressing every year. SB 2651 ensures that the State Board of Elections will have the necessary means to provide direction to replace and repair these machines as this critical discussion continues in the coming years. SB 2651 also requires election authorities to provide biennial reports on their voting equipment conditions, and the cost to update and replace outdated equipment.

Call on Rauner to sign SB 2651 today.

Script: Hi. My name is _____ and I’m a constituent from [zip code]. I’m calling on Governor Rauner to sign SB 2651, a bill to modernize Illinois’ voting equipment. I believe that voting methods should ensure the integrity of the election system, maximize voters' unencumbered access to the ballot, preserve the secrecy of the ballot, and ensure accurate and timely vote tabulation. We need SB 2651 to safeguard our votes. Thank you.
