Action 1: RESCHEDULED - #FamiliesBelongTogether Rally (6/5)

We need to raise our voices against they key actors who are carrying out Trump’s family separation order: ICE and U.S. Attorneys. ICE apprehends and separates families while US Attorneys enforce the separation in legal proceedings. We need to stand up against this incompetence and the moral abomination of family separation.

Indivisible Chicago is excited to be partnering with the National Domestic Workers Alliance, MomsRising, United We Dream, MoveOn and many others to hold family-friendly rallies across the country. Bring your friends, wheel your stroller on over, grab your lunch boxes, and make your family's voice heard loud and clear, that #FamiliesBelongTogether.

When: Tuesday, June 5, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Federal Plaza (
219 S Dearborn St.)

Action 2: Demand Accountability for Puerto Rico

Hurricane season is about to begin in Puerto Rico, and the island has not yet fully recovered from the devastation of Hurricane Maria last year. To make matters worse, the Trump administration still refuses to acknowledge that the death toll from the hurricane was higher than 60--when a recent Harvard study found that the total was closer to 4,600.

Congress needs to demand accountability on the Puerto Rico hurricane response. They need to be holding hearings to determine why the preparation for the storm was inadequate and why the lackluster response to the storm left thousands of Americans dead. Most of all, we need to hear the government’s plan for the upcoming hurricane season to prevent another tragedy from occurring.

Call your MoCs today to demand hearings for Puerto Rico.

Call Senator Duckworth | DC: 202-224-2854 | Chicago 312-886-3506
Call Senator Durbin | DC: 202-224-2152 | Chicago 312-353-4952

Script:  Hi, my name is {NAME} and I'm a constituent at {ZIP CODE} and member of Indivisible Chicago. I’m calling to ask [MoC] to demand hearings on the disastrous response to last year’s hurricane in Puerto Rico. Hurricane season is about to begin again, and we still have not seen any accountability for the 4,600 Americans who died in the aftermath of the storm, nor is there any plan for future storms. Congress needs to address this issue now to prevent more loss of life. Thank you.

Action 3: Expose the #TrumpTaxScam

Did you look at the gas prices last time you filled up the pump? Prices are up 52 cents from 2017, the highest in 3 years--and Americans all over the country are dealing with the consequences.

When Republicans passed the #TrumpTaxScam, they gave a 40% tax break to Big Oil companies. But instead of passing those savings on to consumers in the form of lower gas prices, major oil companies have announced record stock buybacks and billions in profits, thanks to the rising costs of fuel and their Trump Tax windfall.

American families shouldn’t have to choose between filling up their tanks or paying for prescription drugs at the pharmacy--share this post with your friends and family to spread the word.

This is just one more way the rest of us are literally paying for the GOP’s tax breaks for the rich and wealthy corporations. Rising gas prices have already wiped out any small gains from the TrumpTax for middle-class families--and low-income families are even worse off.

These price hikes have real consequences. For too many families, extra costs at the pump mean less food on the table or less life-saving medicine for loved ones. Meanwhile, Big Oil just keeps raking in TrumpTax cash. In 2017, ExxonMobil reported a $5.9 billion tax benefit, while Chevron and Valero reported $2 billion and $1.9 billion, respectively.

Don’t let the GOP off the hook--share this post to make sure your friends and family know exactly who and what is behind the pain they’re feeling at the pump.
