Action 1: Witness Slips for Immigration Safe Zones Act
With Trump and Jeff Sessions at the helm of ICE, families across the country are in constant fear of deportation. There have been sharp increases in the detainment of immigrants in places that many would consider safe, such as hospitals and courthouses. This recklessness undermines the foundations of our society. People seeking medical attention or protection from domestic abusers should not be afraid that they will face deportation as a consequence for seeking help.
Illinois’ proposed Immigration Safe Zones Act (SB 35) would provide “safe zone” locations to immigrants by requiring state and local law enforcement agencies to issue a warrant prior to investigating, detaining or arresting people for violating the federal immigration law. The bill would designate places such as medical facilities, schools, and courthouses as safe zones from immigration raids and harassment.
The bill is collecting witness slips now. Sign on as a proponent today!

Action 2: Show up for the Tax March on April 15
It’s been almost one year since thousands of Americans came together on Tax Day 2017 to demand Donald Trump’s tax returns and a fairer tax system for all. In that time, however, Trump and Republicans have turned their backs on hard-working Americans only to help the wealthy and well-connected. The numbers speak for themselves:
More than $1.5 trillion in tax cuts for millionaires and big corporations
92 million middle-class families seeing tax hikes
83% of the tax benefits from the TrumpTax going to the top 1%
53% of all Americans will get a tax increase
13 million Americans losing health care
0 tax returns from Trump
On the anniversary of last year’s historic march, people from across the country and here in Chicago will come together once again to express their outrage at Trump and Republicans and to demand that Congress #RepealTheTrumpTax and Trump finally fulfill his promise of releasing his tax returns.
