Action 1: Thank Sen. Durbin for advancing Muller protection

On Thursday 4/26 the Senate Judiciary Committee advanced legislation that would protect special counsel Robert Mueller from being fired by President Trump. The bill makes sure special counsel investigators are free to independently do their work. It also delays any firing of a special counsel investigator for 10 days while the decision is appealed to a panel of judges.
The legislation also omitted problematic language that would require the special counsel to notify congressional leaders "if there is any change made to the specific nature or scope" of the investigation. That addition would allow Republicans to meddle and potentially tip off Trump and his allies to developments in the probe. With that change, all of the Democrats on the committee, including Dick Durbin, joined several other Republicans to advance the bill on a bipartisan 14-7 vote.
After the vote, Durbin urged Senate leader Mitch McConnel to re-evaluate his vow to keep the bill from getting a vote in the full Senate. “Let me also add a 14-7 vote out of the Senate Judiciary Committee which we just had on this measure, I hope will be noted by the Senate Majority leader. This is an issue that should come to the floor.”
Thank Senator Durbin for his work in getting a bipartisan bill out of committee.

Script: Hi, my name is {NAME} and I'm a constituent in the {ZIP CODE} and member of Indivisible. I’m calling to Thank Sen Durbin for his work on the  Senate Judiciary Committee to advance legislation to protect Special Counsel Mueller from being fired by Donald Trump. Although McConnell has so far refused to bring this bill to the floor, I urge the senator to continue to speak out strongly and demand a full vote. Thank you.

Action 2: Phone bank to Pass the Equal Rights Amendment in Illinois

Illinois hasn't ratified the Equal Rights Amendment. Let's fix that now!

If 3 states ratify the ERA, Congress can extend the deadline and the ERA can become law in the United States. The Illinois Senate passed the ERA on April 26, 2018, and we have a few votes to secure in the IL House to finally pass the ERA in Illinois.

Come phone bank at the 47th Ward Dems in calling constituents of resistant IL House members to push for a vote.
