Action 2: Call for a More Welcoming Illinois

Yesterday, 150 people joined the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) in Springfield to advocate for laws that would make Illinois more welcoming for all. They pushed for policy changes that will:

  • Improve U Visa certifications for domestic violence and other crime survivors (SB 34)

  • Create policies that protect against immigration arrests in courthouses, schools, hospitals and other sensitive locations (SB35)

  • Prevent Illinois from creating or participating in a registry that singles out resident based on religion, national origin or race (SB 3488)

Please join the ICIRR in calling for a more welcoming Illinois. Call your state Senator today!

Script: Hi, my name is {NAME} and I'm a constituent in the {ZIP CODE} and member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask {Senator} to support three bills that will help protect immigrants in Illinois: SB 34, SB 35, and SB 3488. These bills would help survivors of domestic violence; create safe zones around courthouses, schools, and hospitals; and prevent Illinois from creating a discriminatory registry. Please support these bills and make Illinois a more welcoming state. Thank you!
