Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: Deputy Voter Registrar Training 5/7

Registering voters is the first step to winning elections. As an appointed Deputy Voter Registrar, you can help activate citizen engagement by encouraging people to vote and by registering people to vote.

In Chicago, one of the ways you may be appointed is through training by the city of Chicago Board of Elections. Indivisible Illinois 9th District is hosting official training sessions. Join us if you are a currently registered voter in the city of Chicago. In the training class, you will learn who is eligible to vote, IDs needed to vote, and paperwork used to officially register voters.

When: Monday, May 7 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Vincent Restaurant (1475 W Balmoral Ave.)

Action 2: Marshals Needed for Mueller Firing Rapid Response

Ever since the FBI raided his lawyer’s office and home, Donald Trump has implied that he is close to firing Robert Mueller or otherwise setting into motion plans to end the Mueller investigation.

Here's what we need you to do to help resist in the event that Trump sets off a constitutional crisis. Indivisible Chicago is planning to be part of a massive, national protest if Mueller is fired. We have over 5000 people signed up to join us at Federal Plaza if necessary. If you haven't registered yet for the protest, please do so here.

But we can’t make this rally happen without volunteer marshals. Marshals help ensure a safe and effective event--no prior experience is necessary. We know that everyone may not be able to attend a last-minute rally, so we’re looking for as many people as possible to sign up, and we’ll contact you on the day of with more information.

We need 100+ marshals for a rally with 5,000+ people. Please sign up to be a volunteer marshal today,

In preparation for the rally, we recommend downloading FireChat, a free messaging app for public and private communications that works even without Internet access or cellular data. Indivisible Chicago will use the channel #IndivisibleChi to make communication easier.
