Action 1: Pledge to Rally if Trump Impedes Mueller Investigation

It's looking more and more possible that Trump will fire Robert Mueller or otherwise set into motion plans to end the Mueller investigation. In the last couple days:

  • John Dowd, Trump's personal lawyer, called on the Justice Department on Saturday to end the special counsel investigation.

  • Mueller is said to have sent questions to Trump's legal team as part of negotiations over an interview with Trump.

  • Trump posted a tweet that specifically attacked Mueller. He again denounced the inquiry he is conducting as a “witch hunt.”

  • Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe was fired and then announced that he kept detailed memos of correspondence with Trump about the investigation, which he's handed to the special counsel.

  • On Thursday, Mueller subpoenaed the Trump Organization's business records specifically connected to the Russia investigation, bringing the investigation potentially into the heart of Trump's conflicts of interest and unethical business practices.

  • And of course, the House Intelligence Committee shuttered its Russia investigation Monday, giving Trump backing for his bogus claims of "No collusion!"

Here's what we need you to do to help resist in the event that Trump sets off a constitutional crisis. Indivisible Chicago is planning to be part of a massive, national protest if Mueller is fired. We have over 5000 people signed up to join us at Federal Plaza if necessary.

If you haven't registered yet for the protest, please do so here.

It helps us know how many people to expect. If you haven't given us your cell number so we can text you if something happens, you can update your info here.

And finally, tell a friend. Have them register for the protest. On the day it happens and we get the news that Mueller has been fired, commit to texting 5 friends and telling them to get to Federal Plaza.

This is a big endeavor, and we are working to get a sound system to accommodate thousands of people. If you can chip in a little bit of money to help pay for it, it would be a big help.

The world will be watching our response to this event. We all hope Mueller isn't fired, but if he is we have to be prepared. Will we stand up to authoritarianism? Or will be roll over? I think I know the answer, and I think you do too. See you at Federal Plaza.

Action 2: March with Indivisible Chicago at the March for Our Lives

The young adults of Parkland, Florida continue to inspired us with their bravery and their activism in the face of overwhelming tragedy. Their courage is building a movement for gun control across the country.

At the March for Our Lives on Saturday, March 24, we all have the chance to rally in support of their movement and in support for all of the Americans whose lives have been shattered by gun violence.

In addition to marching to combat school shootings, we will march for Chicago communities of color whose gun violence narratives have been silenced for decades. Given the relevance of gun violence prevention for our city’s black and brown communities, the Chicago event will carry a heightened significance in pushing legislators to craft policy that addresses not only mass shootings but systemic gun violence in minority communities. This is an inclusive endeavor. This is everyone's movement.

Indivisible Chicago is leading a group of marchers. Join us!

When: Saturday, March 24 at 10:45 a.m. (march starts at 11 a.m.)
Where: Union Park at Randolph and Ogden

Look for the Indivisible Chicago Banner, and wear your Indivisible Chicago T-shirt if you have one!
