Tuesday, March 20 - ELECTION DAY / IDEA Full Funding Act / Election Night Watch Parties

Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: ELECTION DAY - Go Vote!

Did you know that less than 18% of Chicagoans who were registered to vote actually did in the last non-presidential primary? There are a lot of things we do really well in Chicago, but turning out to vote isn’t one of them.

TODAY is Election Day, and it’s time to make our voices heard. Voting and civic engagement is vital for a healthy democracy.

Cast your vote TODAY:

  1. Find your polling place. Not registered to vote? No problem. Illinois offers same day registration at all of our early voting locations. Just bring 2 forms of ID. See when you need ID to vote.

  2. Find your ballot at Ballotready.org*

  3. Read a guide to judicial voting

  4. Get out and vote!

  5. Get 10 friends to do the same!

*Warning:  When you create an account, BallotReady.org collects your physical address, your name, email, cookies on your machine, and everyone you intend to vote for, and they make no promises about who they'll share that data with. Action 2: Tell Senators to Vote Yes on the IDEA Full Funding Act

The Senate version of the IDEA Full Funding Act (S. 2542) was introduced this week. This bill would increase the federal contribution for the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA) gradually over ten years from 15 to 40 percent, the level of support Congress promised when it passed the original IDEA. It would also demonstrate that Congress is serious about meeting its commitment to helping school districts support all students.

Call your Senators and Representative and tell them to support the IDEA Full Funding Act.

Call Senator Duckworth | DC:  202-224-2854 | Chicago 312-886-3506
Call Senator Durbin | DC:  202-224-2152 | Chicago 312-353-4952
