Monday, March 19 - Michael Brennan Judicial Nomination / Election Night Watch Parties / Indivisible Chicago Podcast

Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: Tell Senators to Vote No on Michael Brennan

A conservative group funded by billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch is now promoting federal judges at the grass-roots level. According to NPR, Americans for Prosperity is willing to spend nearly $1 million to confirm judges this year. Those lifetime judicial appointments could reshape the courts for a generation.

One of the candidates the Koch brothers are promoting is Michael Brennan, a Milwaukee lawyer and ally of Governor Walker. Although Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin refused to turn in a blue slip for Brennan, a tradition for homestate nominees, Iowa Senator Charles Grassley broke with 100 years of tradition and held a hearing for Brennan anyway. Last month, Brennan advanced out of the committee on a party-line vote of 11 to 10. He is now awaiting a vote by the full Senate.

Call on our Senators to speak out against Koch money and vote no on Michael Brennan’s nomination.

Call Senator Duckworth | DC:  202-224-2854 | Chicago 312-886-3506
Call Senator Durbin | DC:  202-224-2152 | Chicago 312-353-4952

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [zip code] and member of Indivisible. I’m calling today to ask {PERSON} to vote no on Michael Brennan’s judicial nomination for the 7th circuit court. The GOP brought this nomination forward hastily and without following traditional procedures or receiving a blue slip from Senator Baldwin. His nomination is also being backed by the Koch brothers’ Americans for Prosperity organization, which represents billionaire interests. The Senator needs to speak out strongly against this nomination and vote no.
