Action 1: Call MoCs to Cosponsor STOP Violence Act
The brave activism from the survivors of the Stoneman Douglas shooting is raising the hopes that Congress may finally feel the pressure to do something about gun violence. While we continue to push for comprehensive legislation on background checks and assault weapon bans, there are steps we can take to raise awareness in communities across the country to prevent gun violence.
We are joining Sandy Hook Promise in their support of the STOP School Violence Act, HR 4909. The bill will create new federal funding that will bring data-based efforts like the Know the Signs programs to schools across the country, so millions of students and adults will know how to spot and report warning signs of gun violence before a tragedy occurs.
The bill already has bipartisan support, so help us pass this important bill by taking action today! Call your MoCs and ask them to cosponsor this bill.

Script: “Hi, my name is [name] and I’m calling from [zip code] with Indivisible Chicago. I’m calling to ask [MoC] to cosponsor HR 4909, the STOP School Violence Act, because too few of our schools and law enforcement have access to evidence-based strategies to prevent youth violence. School violence can be prevented when schools and law enforcement have the tools to identify, intervene and help individuals who display at-risk behaviors. Please sign on as a consponor to this bipartisan bill.”

Action 3: TOMORROW - Segregation and Housing Justice Discussion Series
Please join the CHI Coalition for the first part of a two-part provocative, action-oriented, and solutions-focused discussion series about what housing justice means in a City as "separate and unequal" as Chicago.
An engaging set of panelists with sometimes conflicting perspectives will provide the launching off point for both community discussions. Topics include gentrification, equality vs. integration, and disability access to housing.
