Friday, December 28 - Investigate Border Patrol / Stop Title IX Changes / January 3 Day of Action

Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: Call on House to Investigate Migrant Children’s Deaths

There are no words to express how sickening it is that two migrant children have died in Border Patrol custody in the past month. A UN expert has called for an investigation into this humanitarian crisis.

This is unconscionable. The death of these children--along with the continued mistreatment of migrants in US custody--must not be allowed to stand.

With Democrats poised to take over the House, they now have the power to launch investigations into these atrocities. Call on your House rep to demand an investigation today!

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [zip code] and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [REP] to demand an investigation into the recent unconscionable deaths of migrant children in the custody of Border Patrol. I demand a full investigation into this to inform swift changes in how the US treats migrants. Thank you.

Action 2: Protect Title IX - Comment Before 1/28

Betsy DeVos is now accepting comments from the public on her terrible proposed changes to Title IX. The proposed rule would let schools off the hook for mishandling rape and sexual harassment and would roll back critical protections for student survivors.

There is still time to stop Betsy DeVos from weakening Title IX. Students and their families have a critical chance to make their voices heard in opposition to Betsy DeVos’ proposal.

Submit a public comment to speak out against the rule change before January 28, 2019. Before you comment, read some tips on making the most effective public comment.
