Action 1: Tell Senators to Vote No on Thomas Farr
Mitch McConnell has taken steps to start pushing Thomas Farr through the Senate to be a federal judge--for life. Farr has a long record of advancing racist and discriminatory policies, and next week, the Senate will vote on his confirmation. We’re only one vote away from defeating Farr, and if enough people call their senators, we can tip the scales and stop Thomas Farr once and for all.
Here’s what we know about Farr already:
He helped draft North Carolina’s racist voter suppression law that a federal court said “targeted African Americans with almost surgical precision.”
Farr was a protégé of the late Sen. Jesse Helms of North Carolina, an “unabashed segregationist” with ties to the white supremacist movement, and served as a top advisor to Helms’ reelection campaign.
Farr defended Helms’ discriminatory campaign, which included sending postcards to thousands of black North Carolinians casting doubt on their eligibility to vote and threatening them with jail time if they did vote. When senators asked Farr about his role in Helms’ discriminatory scheme, Farr gave misleading testimony, claiming that he was not involved in the decision to send the intimidating mailer to black voters. A former Justice Department investigator later came forward to contradict Farr's claims.
Call on Senators to vote no on Thomas Farr!

Action 2: Protect Immigrant Rights to Legal Benefits
The Trump administration has officially proposed a new regulation that would block immigrant families from having a permanent, secure future in the United States. Under the new regulation, immigrants who legally access to basic health supports, safe housing, and healthy food programs could be denied admission to the country or refused a green card. The proposed rule also makes clear that earning low wages, having children, or dealing with a medical condition could be held against immigrants seeking a permanent future in the United States.
This is the latest inhumane attack on the health and wellbeing of so many families and communities across the country. But together, we can stop this.
Under federal law, the Trump administration is required to read and respond to every unique comment before it can finalize its harmful regulation.
