Actions You Can Take Today
Action 2: Phonebank for Brendan Kelly (IL-12 candidate) on Tuesday, October 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Half Sour speakeasy space (755 S Clark St.)
Action 3: Get a seat on the Swing Left canvassing bus to WI-01 or IL-14 on Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4 -- tickets only $10 each
Action 1: URGENT - Protect the First Amendment on the National Mall
Now, the Trump administration proposes to dramatically limit the right to demonstrate near the White House and on the National Mall, including in ways that would violate court orders that have stood for decades. The proposal would close 80 percent of the White House sidewalk, put new limits on spontaneous demonstrations, and open the door to charging fees for protesting.
Fee requirements could make mass protests like Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic 1963 March on Washington and its “I have a dream” speech too expensive to happen.
Suggested Comment: The NPS proposed rule to dramatically limit the right to demonstrate near the White House and on the National Mall violates our constitutional right to free speech and demonstration. Managing public lands for the benefit of the American people is what Congress funds the National Park Service to do. That includes demonstrators just as much as tourists or hikers. While the park service may be strapped for funds, it cannot balance its budget on the backs of people seeking to exercise their constitutional rights.

Action 2: Phonebank for Brendan Kelly (IL-12 Candidate) on Tuesday 10/16
State's Attorney Brendan Kelly spent most of his life in Southern Illinois and is running to represent Illinois 12 in Congress. The district voted for Obama twice, then went for Trump in 2016. He needs YOU to help him win!
When: Tuesday, October 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Half Sour speakeasy space (755 S Clark St.)
Action 3: Take the Swing Left Canvass Bus on 11/3 or 11/4
We know you’re fired up to flip the House, and you know the best way to do that is to talk to voters in nearby swing districts. So Swing Left has partnered with a company called Rally to charter buses for Swing Left volunteers to travel together and volunteer where it’s needed most. It’s fun, easy, and very reasonably priced (thanks to some incredible donors who are subsidizing this effort!)--only $10 per ticket.
When: Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4
Where: From Chicago to Racine, WI (WI-01) on 11/3 and to Woodstock, IL (IL-14) on 11/4
Cost: Just $10!
Why: Talking to voters in person is the best way to get them to show up at the polls!
In WI-01, Democrat Randy “Ironstache” Bryce, a veteran and union ironworker, is campaigning on Medicare for All, a Green New Deal to combat climate change, and tuition-free public college education. He's running against Republican Bryan Steil, a former staffer to retiring House Speaker Paul Ryan.
In IL-14, Democrat Lauren Underwood, a registered nurse and healthcare advisor to the Obama administration, is running against Republican incumbent Randy Hultgren. She’s campaigning on healthcare as a human right, serious gun control legislation, and modernizing local infrastructure.
