Tools You Can Use

Action 1: LAST DAY - Sign a Witness Slip in Support of SB2273 to Drop Crosscheck

Indivisible Chicago has been hard at work trying to fight back against voter suppression by ending Illinois’ participation in Crosscheck. Crosscheck is a seriously flawed program that often results in voter disenfranchisement and suppression. Learn more about Crosscheck here.

There is an alternative in ERIC, the Electronic Registration Information Center. ERIC is another voter verification system in which Illinois already participates. ERIC is free of Crosscheck’s security and data-quality flaws. Illinois should continue to use it and encourage surrounding states to do the same.

SB2273, the Illinois Senate bill to leave Crosscheck and exclusively use ERIC is now getting cosponsors. You can help garner support by submitting a witness slip to support this bill. The bill is up for a hearing TOMORROW at 1:30 p.m., so time is running out to submit a slip!

How to Submit a Witness Slip

1. Click here

2. Fill in the Identification portion of the form.

3. Under Representation, you can put your neighborhood Indivisible group, a different group, or "Self."

Action 2: Donate to Support the Indivisible Chicago Summit

On Sunday, March 11th, we will have the first all-Chicago Indivisible meeting in over a year! We will gather together to re-energize, re-engage, and re-orient towards taking back the House and Senate in 2018. We will hear from the leaders in progressive, grassroots election organizing and find out how Indivisible Chicago can take action and take back Congress.

We will win in 2018. We will finally have a real check on the executive branch. And you can make a difference.

Speakers include:

and more!

We’re getting more and more excited for this event, but we need YOU to help make it happen. We are currently seeking donations to help cover expenses for renting a venue and A/V equipment. If you have the means, please consider making a donation to Indivisible Chicago.

Stay tuned more more information about the Summit. We will be releasing tickets soon!

Action 3: Listen to the Indivisible Chicago Podcast

Every Sunday, Indivisible Chicago members Tom Moss and Dan Nelson release a new episode of the Indivisible Chicago Podcast. It’s a great way to keep up with the latest news about the Indivisible movement on a local level and to stay plugged in to upcoming efforts around the city.

This week, we welcome DACA recipient and activist Angelica Magaña to share what’s at stake for her in this fight over DACA. Christian Picciolini, author of White American Youth, updates us on his efforts to show people a way out of white supremacist movements, and Dave Fleisher and Bob Moriarty join to talk deep canvassing. Dave is director of the LA LGBT Center’s Leadership Lab and Bob is leading an effort to change voters’ minds in Illinois 6, one conversation at a time.

Give it a listen here, and subscribe via iTunes to follow along with new episodes.
