Tools You Can Use

Action 1: Phone Bank Against Trumpcare 3.0 from Home

Your tireless (and loud!) constituent power killed Trumpcare in July. And now, millions of people are depending on you to do it again. But if you live in a state with two Democratic Senators who oppose the ACA, you may be asking yourself: what more can I do? How can I influence persuadable Republicans in red states who may be on the fence?

The answer is blue state/red state phone banking, where folks in blue states contact voters in a key state with a swing Republican Senator. These folks are your friends—they attended the Women’s March, they’re standing up to #DefendDACA, and/or fight for progressive causes.

Keep up with future Indivisible Chicago phone bank events here, or phone bank from your own home any time with Indivisible’s Trump Care 10 tool.

The tool connects you with swing state voters to remind them why the continued fight against TrumpCare is so important—and why they have particular power in this moment.

You ask them to use their power by calling their senator in opposition to the bill. The call tool will allow you to automatically patch them through to the Senators’ district offices.

It’s super easy: more than 1,000 Indivisibles in blue states made 100,000 phone calls to constituents in our target states in the final two days before the healthcare vote in July. And we won. We can win this time, too. Sign up to phone bank today!

Action 2: Call on Congress to Provide Hurricane Relief for Puerto Rico

Hurricane Maria has just devastated Puerto Rico. The entire island is currently without power. The American citizens of the commonwealth of Puerto Rico need our government to send aid as soon as possible. Congress has a history of stalling when it comes to crises on the island, such as the Zika outbreak, so we need to pressure them to act quickly.

Please call your MoCs to help ensure Puerto Rico gets the aid they need without delay!

Script: My name is _____. I live in zip code ______, and am a member of Indivisible Chicago. I'm calling on the [MoC name] to pass an aid package to Puerto Rico without delay. The damage from Hurricane Maria is severe, and Congress must act quickly to jump-start recovery and prevent unnecessary loss of life.

Action 3: Attend Expert Discussion on Refugees and National Security on 9/27

Indivisible Pilsen, in collaboration with Welcoming the Stranger and Loop Church, is sponsoring an expert panel discussion on America’s refugee policy, which is undergoing major changes under the Trump administration. The expert-led discussion will focus on the proposed reduction in overall admissions, the program funding levels, and how that impacts our national security, economy, and other areas. This is a chance to learn about the current global refugee situation, the admissions process, the implications of current policy, and what you can do to make your voice heard.

RSVP to attend the event on Wednesday, September 27 at Loop Church (11th E Adams St, 12 floor) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
