Tools you can use

Action #1: Volunteer to phone bank at one of the SEVEN phone banking sessions Indivisible Chicago has set up to call Ohio and Maine Republican Senators

We have so many phone banking sessions! Last night, groups in Rogers Park and Hyde Park called constituents of Senator Collins of Maine and she has since come out as a "NO" against the awful Senate bill. Tonight we will be calling Ohio Senator Rob Portman at five different locations across the city.

Action #2: Call Senators Durbin and Duckworth and tell them to withhold consent and filibuster by amendment

Senator Durbin

Washington DC: (202) 224-2152

Chicago: (312) 353-4952

Script: Hi, my name is ___________ and I'm a constituent of Senator Durbin. I'd like to thank the Senator for committing to withhold consent. I'm also asking the Senator to go one step further and propose hundreds or thousands of amendments for vote-a-rama, effectively filibustering by amendment. It's essential that the Senator play hardball as the Senate Republicans aren't operating in good faith.

Senator Duckworth

Washington DC: (202) 224-2854

Chicago: (312) 886-3506

Script: Hi, my name is ___________ and I'm a constituent of Senator Duckworth.

Action #3: Tell us you're going to the Rally to Save ACA at the Thompson Center at Noon on Wednesday, June 28th and share the event

We are rallying to deliver our petition and ask Governor Rauner to stop giving cover to the spineless Republican Congressmen who voted for this heinous bill. There is nothing more important going on right now. This is life or death for millions of Americans. We have to fight. Join us at the Thompson center where we will call for Governor Rauner to forget about the 6.6 million dollars he will save with his potential tax cut and stand up for his constituents.

Action #4: Leave a comment today (by 5pm) via email to Rauner’s Illinois Department of Natural Resources flagging the technical concerns in Woolsey’s fracking application and urging them to reject Woolsey Operating Company’s horizontal well permit application!

From Sierra Club:

Woolsey Operating Company LLC has submitted Illinois’ first High Volume Horizontal Hydraulic Fracturing well permit application since the 2013 Hydraulic Fracturing Regulation Act was passed. This is a crucial moment to gather our power and show the entire fracking industry that this toxic industry has no place in Illinois.

The comment period on Woolsey’s permit application is open now through 5:00 PM on June 27th! We need your voice to say #NotOneWell, comment and help spread the word!

Actions #3: Tell us you're going to the Rally to Save ACA at the Thompson Center at Noon on Wednesday, June 28th and share the event

RED ALERT - WE NEED ALL AMERICANS WHO BELIEVE IN PROTECTING THE ELDERLY, THE DISABLED, CHILDREN AND THE POOR TO SHOW UP AND DEMAND RAUNER TO DEFEND OUR STATE.

Governor Rauner has been silent on AHCA, and this silence speaks volumes. He can not be allowed to get away with sitting on the sidelines while his Republican allies in Congress vote to give him a 6.6. million dollar tax cut at the expense of children, the disabled, middle class families and the elderly.

We will deliver a 5000 signature petition to Governor Rauner during the rally. Sign the petition and share https://actionsprout.io/1D7168

WE NEED EVERYONE TO COME OUT. Rally! Have your voices be heard! We demand that Governor Rauner speak out. We demand that he represent the people of Illinois who will die and lose their jobs without ACA. Join Indivisible Chicago and our allies as we rally outside the Governor's office and demand that our voices be heard.

Action #4: Leave a comment today (by 5pm) via email to Rauner’s Illinois Department of Natural Resources flagging the technical concerns in Woolsey’s fracking application and urging them to reject Woolsey Operating Company’s horizontal well permit application!

From Sierra Club:

Woolsey Operating Company LLC has submitted a permit to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to drill our state’s first High Volume Horizontal Hydraulic Fracking well. Thinking “Woolsey” sounds eerily familiar? You’re right - Woolsey Energy owned and operated the frack well that exploded in January 2014 with a lawsuit by the injured party still in process. This well endangers the health and safety of the community through risk of water contamination, air pollution, earthquakes, all of which have lead to long term health effects - all in the name of extracting and burning more and more dirty fossil fuels.

We must not let Illinois fall victim to this toxic industry takeover. Right now (and until 5:00 PM on June 27th) the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is taking comments on this well permit - let’s tell them what we know! This decision lies in the hands of the IL Department of Natural Resources, who takes direction from Gov. Rauner. Tell the Gov. Rauner to reject this permit!
