Vote No on AHCA
Today is the 7 year anniversary of the passing of the Affordable Car Act and today is the day there will be a vote on HR 1628 - The American Health Care Act. All of our representatives here in Chicago are voting no on this bill, so not much convincing is needed. Here's two things we can do at this last minute. First, let's call and thank our Representatives for their expected no vote. Bobby Rush will not be able to make the vote as he mourns his wife, but all the rest will be voting, so let's let them know we appreciate it.
The second thing we can do is send out our last minute tweets in the direct of our Republican reps. You can take a look at Tuesday's daily action for graphics and twitter accounts. Also, share around your stories and love for ACA using the hashtag #ILSaveACA.
Rally for ACA 7 year anniversary
To answer the big question on everyone's mind after Paul Ryan moved his fundraiser from Thursday to Friday is: are we still rallying on Thursday? Yes! There are now two events. Thursday, March 23rd, we will rally to support the ACA on the 7 year anniversary of the bill. We will meet at the Federal building at 4 and then march to Trump Tower where we will rally in front of Trump Tower. Bring big, beautiful signs. Only the best signs. Yuge signs. It's going to be tremendous. The best.
To recap: 4pm tonight, March 23rd, Federal Building. We will march to Trump tower and end by 5:30-6. SEE ALL DETAILS AN UPDATES AT FACEBOOK EVENT. The Facebook event is the definitive source although we will do our best to keep this action updated.
Rally to Protest Paul Ryan
Then tomorrow, March 24th at 4:30 pm at Chicago Club, there will be a protest of Paul Ryan coming to Chicago to raise money organized by Answer Chicago. SEE ALL DETAILS AT THIS FACEBOOK EVENT. Again, the Facebook event is the definitive source.
On March 24, thousands of people are planning to descend on downtown Chicago to protest Paul Ryan's $50,000 a plate fundraiser at the Chicago Club. ANSWER Chicago, SEIU Healthcare Illinois & Indiana, Indivisible Illinois and Women's March Illinois are among the groups promoting the March 24 protest.
We will assemble at 4:30 pm at the Chicago Club (81 E Van Buren) and stay in the streets until 7:30 pm to shut Ryan's and Trump's agenda down!
