Monday, March 20th - Oppose Neil Gorsuch and Stop Repeal of ACA
The national Indivisible team has put together a very nice campaign on Neil Gorsuch with tons of information, so I'm going to just pass that along.
On Monday, March 20, Judge Neil Gorsuch will have his first hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee as nominee to the United State Supreme Court. Gorsuch’s extreme record on everything from women’s rights to civil rights to corporate power is simply unacceptable. It’s vital that your Senators hear from you on filibustering his nomination. We’ve partnered with other activists as part of the People’s Defense so that we can all stand indivisible together against this dangerous addition to the Court—check out this campaign for more information and use our new #SupremelyExtreme resources page to tell your Senators to vote no.
For more info on just how extreme Gorsuch’s record is, check out these fact sheets from our friends at the Alliance for Justice:
- Gorsuch is Extreme on Criminal Justice
- Gorsuch is Extreme on Environmental Protections
- Gorsuch is Extreme on LGBTQ Rights
- Gorsuch is Extreme on Consumers’ Rights
- Gorsuch is Extreme on Disability Rights
- Gorsuch is Extreme on Women’s Rights
- Gorsuch is Extreme on Workers’ Rights
- Gorsuch is Extreme on Immigrants’ Rights
In short, Gorsuch is a #SupremelyExtreme pick from a President with no mandate whatsoever.
Call Senators Durbin and Duckworth and ask them to vote no on Gorsuch.
Script: Hi, my name is ____________ and I'm a constituent of Senator _________. I'm calling to ask the Senator to push back against the appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. After the Republican's treatment of Merrick Garland, and given President Trump's historically low popularity, they have no right to put forth such an extreme Supreme Court nominee. I'm asking the Senator to vote no on Gorsuch.
(and, of course, definitely add your reasons from the many extreme positions he's taken to personalize it)

Senator Duckworth - 312-886-3506
Oppose the Repeal of ACA
We are going to continue to fight against the repeal of ACA this week. The impact the repeal of ACA and replacement with AHCA would have on America is stunning. 14 million people would be uninsured by 2018, and 24 million within 10 years. The costs for the elderly would skyrocket, leaving the elderly poor without health care when they need it most. And for what? Tax cuts for the rich.
Call your representative and ask them to speak out against the repeal of ACA. If you are in Chicago, your rep surely opposes repeal.
Script: Hello, my name is _____________ and I'm a constituent of Congressman/woman ___________. I'm calling to ask the Congressman/woman to do everything in his/her power to stop the dismantling of ACA. We need the Congressman/women to fight as hard as he/she can as this bill goes to vote.
if you are in a red district, you'd want to go with something more like what's below, but nothing has a bigger impact than a personal story. If you have any personal story of how ACA impacts you or a loved one, please share it!
Script: Hello, my name is _____________ and I'm a constituent of Congressman___________. I'm calling to ask the Congressman to not vote for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. The bill will hurt the elderly poor and leave millions uninsured, all so the rich can get a tax break. I'm asking the Congressman to stick up for his most vulnerable constituents and vote no.
