Tools You Can Use

Action 1: Phone Bank at Home to Stop the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bill

The GOP is moving to dramatically expand gun rights with the Concealed Carry Reciprocity (CCR) bill (HR 38). The bill would treat concealed-carry permits like driver’s or marriage licenses that can be carried from state to state. This means that people with violent histories can carry concealed, loaded, unlicensed guns at Lollapalooza, the Magnificent Mile, day care centers, Bears, Cubs and Bulls games — anywhere.

This extreme expansion of gun rights, championed by the NRA, must be defeated. We have exhausted our Illinois constituent calls already so we are moving on to Arizona, where Kyrsten Sinema (D) has not yet committed to voting no on CCR.

Join Chicago Moms Demand Action and Everytown to make calls to Arizona Democrats to ask them to convince Rep. Sineema to vote NO on Concealed Carry Reciprocity (CCR). You can call from anywhere using an automatic hubdialer! Register for the hubdialer here.

Action 2: Protest Verizon, Save #NetNeutrality on Thursday

If corporations control the Internet, they control the most important organizing tool of our time.

Join us on Thursday to protest Verizon, an organization that spent $10,080,000 this year lobbying against Net Neutrality. We will stand in solidarity with Internet users across the country outraged at top Verizon lawyer turned FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan to gut net neutrality. This event will mark one week before an expected vote at the FCC. Protesters will make it clear to members of Congress that it is time to stand for #NetNeutrality, not Verizon’s bottom line.

 When: Thursday, December 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Verizon Store (36 S. State Street)

Please remember, this event is about protesting actions of Verizon executives, lobbyists and their supporters in Washington, NOT the employees at these stores.

Action 3: ACA Enrollment Ends December 15 - Get the Word Out

The Trump administration is making it very hard for people to get covered during this year's ACA open enrollment by cutting the enrollment period in half, moving the enrollment deadline, and slashing 90% of the dollars used to get out the word about the program.

To counter this sabotage, a group of health-care experts has launched a new initiative called Get America Covered, whose goal is to help people enroll on Obamacare’s individual markets. The website provides people with the information and tools they need to take advantage of the law and its subsidies before the short enrollment window closes.

Here’s how you can help get the word out about the open enrollment period, which ends December 15:
