Action 1: Show Up to Fight Voter Suppression TOMORROW

Tomorrow, our legislators turn the tables and they'll be the ones demanding answers from the Illinois State Board of Elections! Join Indivisible Chicago to fill the room at the State Senate Telecom and InfoTech Committee Hearing, which is looking into Illinois' participation in the Crosscheck program and the massive security failures that Indivisible Chicago has brought to light. Crosscheck is a discriminatory system used to purge voters and promote voter suppression laws in our neighboring states. Read more on our new website.

The Committee has called representatives from the State Board of Elections to testify as well as industry cybersecurity experts and members of the Indivisible Chicago team. Join us and show your support!

WHEN: Wednesday, November 15 at noon
WHERE: 160 N LaSalle (across the street from the Thompson Center), 6th floor committee room.

NOTE: Photo ID is required to pass building security

Action 2: Attend the Vote Smart Event and Deputy Voter Registrar Training TOMORROW

Want to build on last week’s success and make a real impact in the midterms? Join Indivisible Chicago, Women’s March Chicago, and others for a voter education event followed by Deputy Voter Registrar training, which will allow you to register residents to vote in 2018.

Richard Kimball, President of VoteSmart.org, will give a multimedia presentation on why facts matter and what you can do to become a more informed voter. Then, stay for the training session for Deputy Voter Registrars so that you’re equipped to make a difference in 2018!

RSVP for the Vote Smart event and Deputy Registrar training on Wednesday, November 15 at 4455 N Lincoln Ave. The Vote Smart presentation begins at 4:15 p.m. and the Deputy Voter Registrar training begins at 5:15 p.m. and runs for 45 minutes. Follow the Facebook event for updates.

To participate in the training, you must be registered to vote in the city of Chicago (not suburbs).

Action 3: Protest Rep. Roskam and the GOP Tax Plan on Thursday

Representative Peter Roskam is the headline speaker at a large GOP "Reagan Dinner" Fundraiser on Thursday. Just as the GOP is getting ready to jam their #TrumpTaxScam through Congress, there's no better opportunity to protest this giveaway to the rich.

With Thanksgiving only a few weeks away, billionaires and massive corporations will have many thanks for Peter Roskam, who is giving them trillions in tax breaks that will cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security and slash education and services that help seniors, women and people with disabilities.

The Roskam-Trump tax is a turkey that roasts the middle Ccass, balloons the deficit, makes it more expensive to borrow money, raises taxes on small businesses and puts us back on the devastating and discredited road of “trickle-down economics.”

That’s why we’re protesting Roskam and the GOP’s turkey tax plan. RSVP on Facebook and join us!

When: Thursday, November 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Ashyana Banquets, 1620 75th Street, Downers Grove, IL 60516
Public Transit: The BNSF line train departs from Union Station to Downers Grove Main at 5:10 and 5:30 p.m.; return trains leave at 7:40, 8:48 and 9:40 p.m.; see the full schedule. It is a 10-minute drive to the banquet hall via taxi or Lyft/Uber.
