Chicago Joins National Protests, Demands FULL Mueller Report

Federal Plaza Rally 5pm Thursday, April 4; one of 200+ pressuring AG William Barr

Indivisible Chicago joins a coalition of the nation’s biggest progressive grassroots organizations to activate a nationwide protest plan demanding public release of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s full investigative report. The rallies are in response to Attorney General William Barr’s failure to meet an April 2 deadline set by House Democrats to release the full, unredacted report to Congress. Chicago’s rally will feature former Watergate prosecutor Jill Wine-Banks, CNN Legal Analyst Renato Mariotti (who also hosts the popular podcast On Topic), the ACLU’s Ed Yohnka, and other experts.

National sponsors of this Nobody Is Above the Law coordinated, national action include Stand Up America, MoveON, Indivisible, and Public Citizen

“So far, Barr has given us only a brief letter that caters to his boss’ needs. This ignores the public’s right to know Mueller’s actual findings in his own words,” said Indivisible Chicago Executive Director Darcey Regan. “Barr’s vague promise to release a redacted version of the report at some unspecified date falls far short of the transparency required to inform the nation on an investigation that has already resulted in indictments of 34 people--six of them close to the President.”

Multiple polls show that more than three-quarters of the American public wants the full report released, including a majority of both Republicans and Democrats. And, the vast majority of Americans remain unconvinced by the Barr letter, with only 29% agreeing with President Trump’s claim that he is “exonerated”. Tomorrow’s rallies, in Chicago and in more than 230 locations around the country, support these findings and underscore the public’s demand to see the full report to lift the cloud over this Presidency.

About Indivisible Chicago  Indivisible Chicago is a progressive coalition of neighborhood chapters throughout the Chicago area, launched in January, 2017. We are leaders in the grassroots movement to advance progressive values, candidates, and elected officials who will join us in supporting policies and programs that align with these values. Our proven track record includes field operations to help elect Illinois Representatives Sean Casten (IL06) and Lauren Underwood (IL14), knocking on 20,000 doors in the election’s last weekend alone. We also serve as reliable partners for impacted communities seeking to elevate their cause. This includes our role as the safety marshals for the 2018 March for Our Lives and coordinating logistics for the 2018 Families Belong Together rally, drawing 60,000 to Daley Plaza in support of immigrants seeking refuge at our southern border.
